WhatsApp Group Guidelines
Welcome to the TiS Family Community (TFC) WhatsApp group! As we heavily rely on WhatsApp for parent communication at our school, it is important that we all review and adhere to the following guidelines to ensure this platform is used effectively and respectfully.
- The messages in these groups come from parents in their personal capacity or are sent on behalf of the TiS Family Community (TFC). The school neither sends nor monitors messages on WhatsApp groups.
- If you require urgent school assistance/action, please contact the school directly as opposed to posting on these platforms.
- The group should not be used as a platform to discuss a teacher, child or parent in the grade level or school.
- The group should be used as a platform for positive and constructive sharing of information:
- To inform the participants of TFC activities, including parent clubs, and grade-wide social events in support of community building.
- It may include reminders on school matters, as requested by school staff/teachers.
- To request parent feedback on grade-specific topics (i.e., not specific to individual children) and TFC activities.
- To provide a space for recommendations (e.g., doctors, local events).
- To inform the participants of TFC activities, including parent clubs, and grade-wide social events in support of community building.
- The group is not a political platform for airing opinions on current affairs, and degrading comments about race, religion, culture, gender, or identity will not be tolerated, as per the TiS Code of Conduct.
- Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links are discouraged.
- By accepting a request to join the group, the participant agrees to share their mobile number with the other participants in the group and to adhere to these guidelines. If these guidelines are not adhered to, the individual(s) may be removed from the group.
- In grade groups, all parents are made group administrators so they can add fellow parents to the group.
- For the privacy of our new families, we ask all departing families to remove themselves from their children’s grade group(s) when their child is no longer part of that grade. In grade groups (not parent clubs), group administrators will periodically remind parents who are no longer part of Tokyo International School to remove themselves from the group.
